U.S. court admitted guilt of Iran in kidnapping and torture of ex-FBI agent
Iran is responsible for holding former FBI agent and alleged CIA informant Robert Levinson hostage and torturing him. This is stated in the decision of the American federal judge in Washington Timothy Kelly. Kelly pointed out that Levinson's fate was not known to anyone. If he is alive, no one in US history has been held hostage for so long. Iran is unequivocally responsible for what happened to Levinson, highlighted in a decision that takes 25 pages. A federal judge described the moral suffering of the Levinson family, including seven of his children. He stated that the claim of the ex-agent's relatives would be granted because the Iranian side had not sent its representatives to court. Kelly did not specify the amount of compensation, but Levinson's family had previously demanded up to $1.5 billion. Levinson, a former FBI official, disappeared during a trip to Iran in 2007, according to the news agency. In the United States, it is believed that the Iranian authorities were involved in his abduction, but the Iranian side denies these charges.
