Tehran and Doha agree to jointly manage energy sector
On 16 April, the Minister of Energy of Iran and the Minister of Industry and Trade of Qatar agreed, through a videoconference, to consider joint management of the energy sector and to sign relevant documents. This was reported by Iranian agency IRNA on April 17. Following the postponement due to the coronavirus outbreak, a meeting of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission between Iran and Qatar, Which was scheduled to take place in Isfagan, Iran, in April this year with a view to further expanding ties between the two sides, Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian, as Iranian Chairman of the Commission and Qatar's Minister of Trade and Industry Ali ben Ahmad al-Kawari, agreed to discuss issues of mutual interest during a video conference. During a videoconference with the Qatari Chairman of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation, Ardakanyan said: Both sides will be able to reach a final agreement even before the meeting of the Joint Commission. The representatives of Iran and Qatar, within the framework of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation, agreed to convene a meeting at the earliest opportunity after the end of the coronavirus crisis and the return to normal life, as well as to seriously consider the tasks of the Commission for the Development of Bilateral Relations.
