Ukrainian media explained why Saakashvili will not be able to be an official
Former President of Georgia and ex-Governor of Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili will not be able to work in the government of Ukraine due to his criminal record, reported on April 25 in the Kiev edition of the Observer. According to article 7 of the Law On the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, a person who has a criminal record, has not been repaid or removed cannot be appointed to the post of a member of the Cabinet of Ministers, the message reads. However, Ukrainian law does not specify whether it matters where a person was convicted. We remind that Saakashvili was sentenced in absentia to prison terms in Georgia for crimes committed by him in the state post.
