The World Bank will additionally allocate 45 million euros to Georgia
The World Bank will provide Georgia with additional assistance in the amount of 45 million euros to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the country's economy. According to the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the board of executive directors of the bank adopted a corresponding decision on June 30. During this difficult period, as a strong partner, we support Georgia and endorse the rapid and effective anti-crisis measures of the Government of Georgia aimed at saving people's lives, their livelihoods, mitigating the economic consequences of the pandemic COVID-19 and maintaining strong trends in economic reforms, said Sebastian Molineus, Regional Director of the World Bank in the South Caucasus. Earlier in March this year, the World Bank approved 45 million euros in aid for Georgia, which was also aimed at promoting reforms, creating new jobs, increasing economic inclusiveness and maintaining economic stability. According to the Minister of Finance of Georgia Ivane Machavariani, the support of the World Bank is extremely important, since it is aimed at solving the specific problems caused by the pandemic.
