In Belarus, almost every fifth lives in the village

Of the 9.4 million inhabitants of Belarus, 77.6% (7.3 million) live in cities. This was reported by the National Statistical Committee of the post-Soviet Republic. About 70% of the urban population is concentrated in large cities with a population of 100 thousand or more people, the official report said. According to Belstat's publication, dedicated to World Population Day, Belarus ranks 94th in the world and 6th in the CIS in terms of population (9.4 million). Recall that in 1991 the population of the BSSR was 10.3 million people. During the post-Soviet period, the number of indigenous people decreased significantly, the demographic decline was compensated by migration from the CIS.
